PURPOSE: To provide an active matrix type in-plane switching color liquid crystal display device which has excellent viewing angle property, has low fabrication cost and enables a high quality large-sized picture almost free from display unevenness. CONSTITUTION: The in-plane switching liquid crystal display device is provided with a pair of substrates of which at least one side is transparent, a liquid crystal composition layer interposed between the substrates, a plurality of scanning lines and image signal lines matrically arranged on the surface of either one side of the substrates facing to each other, pixel electrodes forming a pair to common electrodes and the pixel electrodes and thin film transistor elements connected to the scanning lines and the image signal lines. A connection part of a protection transistor element for electrostatic measure which connects the common electrode to the scanning line and a connection part of a protection transistor element for electrostatic measure which connects the common electrode to the image signal line are fabricated by using a process formed at the same time when the elements in thin film semiconductor layer of the thin film transistor elements are separated by using a halftone exposure technique. |
