PURPOSE: An apparatus for automatically opening and shutting the door for a hearth roll provided which enables exchange operation to be performed safely by a small number of workers and shortens exchange time of hearth roll to improve operation productivity. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises an opening and closing part(10) which is equipped with a pair of cover members(12a,12b) arranged on the outer surface of bearing block(230) for supporting a side part of hearth roll(210), an upper part of one side of which is rotationally mounted on the bearing block(230), and which is arranged in the state that the hearth roll door(245) is covered through spring members(16a,16b) respectively; a link part(30) which is equipped with a plural levers(36a,36b) so that an intermediate part of the plural levers(36a,36b) is rotationally mounted on a support(240) at a lower side of the bearing block(230), wherein one end of the levers(36a,36b) is connected to a lower part of the cover members(12a,12b) through wire ropes(32) respectively, and direction of the wire ropes(32) is changed through a plurality of sheaves(60) so that opening and closing operations of the cover members(12a,12b) are converted into up and down movements of the levers(36a,36b); and a roll resting part(65) comprising a supporting bar(70) mounted on the other end of the levers(36a,36b), and a roll supporter(60) elastically supported by springs installed inside the supporting bar respectively to support the hearth roll(210), wherein the hearth roll door(245) is automatically opened and closed when the hearth roll(210) is drawn out.
