PURPOSE: A PTO(power take-off) and a control method thereof are provided to control an engine properly in operating the power take-off by using information applied to the engine control unit, and to improve convenience and durability and reduce exhaust gas and fuel consumption by automatically controlling with the engine control unit. CONSTITUTION: A PTO comprises a PTO switch(20) turned on and off by a user; a clutch pedal switch(30) turned on and off according to operation of a clutch pedal; a vehicle speed sensor(40) detecting velocity of a vehicle; an engine control unit(60) operating an engine base on the fuel amount calculated according to the PTO position and engine rpm if the vehicle speed is zero and the clutch pedal switch is turned off in turning on the PTO switch; and a PTO solenoid valve(70) generating power by transmitting vacuum pressure to a PTO vacuum cylinder(80) with operating according to control of the engine control unit. The engine operates properly in actuating the PTO by using information input to the engine control unit.
