[Also in Division H2] An aluminium cylindrical switch housing 2 has a liner comprising two resilient nylon members 14, 15 each formed from a flat sheet, Fig. 6, or from a sector of a cylinder, which is rolled into cylindrical shape and inserted into housing 2, and maintained in place by crimping the housing (at 16, Fig. 9). On depression of button 3, lamp 6 mounted therein abuts a support 44 to transmit the operating force to a contact carrier 28 biased upwardly by a spring 25. Spring contacts 26 (27, Figs. 3, 11) snapfitting in recesses in resilient carrier 28 normally bridge fixed contacts (19, Figs. 3, 12) 22 to fixed terminals (18, Figs. 12, 3) 23, and on depression of button 3, contacts 26, (27) break with contacts (19), 22 and bridge fixed contacts (20, Fig. 12), 21 to terminals (18), 23. Carrier 28 mounts a rotatable latch ring 31 provided with lugs 34 that on initial depression and release of button 3 travel from A to B to C, Fig. 6, in a track 64 formed in liner 15 to latch button 3 depressed. On further depression and release of button 3, lugs 34 travel from C to D to E in track 64 while spring 25 returns carrier 28 to its normal position. Ring 31 may be omitted to provide a retractive switch. Carrier 28 has resilient detents 35 co-operating with detent areas 70, 71 on liner 15. The fixed contacts and terminals are mounted in a base 17 held in position by a ridge 57 on liner 15. Button 3 is releasably held within liner 14 by lugs 52, 51 on button 3 co-operating with bayonet slots 49, 50 in liner 14. Terminals 9, (10, Fig. 13) for supplying power to lamp terminals 13, 7 during both switched positions have apertures (62, 63, Fig. 13) mounted on raised portions 60, 61 in recessed areas 58, 59 in the outer surface of liner 15. Notches (53, 54, Figs. 13, 4) in liner 14 provide clearance for terminals 9, 10 which are insulated from housing 2 by an anodized coating thereon. |
