PURPOSE: A method for controlling defrosting of an air conditioner is provided to keep high defrosting performance while reducing noise and power consumption by controlling frequency of a compressor depending on current state of defrosting operation. CONSTITUTION: A method includes the steps of: a step detecting temperature of an outdoor tube during defrosting operation; a step(209) calculating difference between the detected current temperature of the outdoor tube and preset objective temperature of the outdoor tube; a step(212,218,224,230) setting operating frequency of a compressor corresponding with the calculated difference; and a step(215,221,227,233,236) changing frequency of defrosting operation to the set operating frequency of the compressor. The frequency of the compressor is gradually reduced as the difference between the current temperature of the outdoor tube and the objective temperature of the outdoor tube is decreased to reduce power consumption and noise.
