PURPOSE: A method for controlling operation of an air conditioner is provided to supply a cozy air-conditioned space by controlling operation of the air conditioner based on temperature and humidity during cooling operation. CONSTITUTION: A method includes the steps of: a step(200) in which a micro-controller controls an air conditioner to drive following operation control signal inputted by a user through a key input part; a step(210,220) stopping operation of a compressor when indoor temperature reaches desired temperature; a step(230) measuring indoor humidity; a step(235) detecting time for which the compressor stops; and a step(240) controlling the compressor to work if fixed time has passed since the compressor stops working, or the measured humidity is over preset value. The compressor is controlled to work even before the fixed time has passed if the humidity is increased over the preset value for because not only the indoor temperature but also the humidity influences coziness.
