PURPOSE: A wireless communication terminal for information protection and a method therefor are provided to automatically set information protection functions in a self terminal and other party's terminal under the control of an information protection controller, and to remove transmission errors generated while setting an information protection mode, thereby exactly according modes of the two terminals. CONSTITUTION: A terminal keypad(201) supports a user's input. The other party's telephone number display(202) extracts a received telephone number. A telephone number storage(203) for information protection communication stores other party's user lists for preset information protection communication. A telephone number retrieving unit(204) for information protection communication compares a transmitted telephone number or the received telephone number with a pre-stored telephone number for the information protection communication, and distinguishes a communication party. An input controller(205) controls an information protection function and an input for modifying an encoding key. An information protection controller(206) controls the information protection function of a terminal. An information protection mode setting unit(207) sets the information protection function.
