PURPOSE: A method for producing functional biopolymer heteropolysaccharide-7 (PS-7) with soybean pomaces as a by-product of food processing is provided, thereby decreasing the production costs of PS-7 and inhibiting environmental pollution. CONSTITUTION: A method for producing functional biopolymer heteropolysaccharide-7 (PS-7) with soybean pomaces as a by-product of food processing comprises the steps of: (a) inoculating a microorganism to a medium containing soybean pomaces and culturing it at 25 to 35 deg. C and 150 to 200 rpm for 24 to 48 hours; (b) inoculating 3 to 5%(v/v) of the seed cultured medium to a medium containing soybean pomaces and culturing it at 25 to 35 deg. C and 150 to 200 rpm for 3 to 5 days; (c) centrifuging the cultured medium, collecting a supernatant therefrom, adding an organic solvent to the supernatant, and obtaining precipitates; and (d) dissolving the precipitates in distilled water, dialyzing the solution, and freeze-drying the dialyzed product, wherein the microorganism is Beijerinckia indica ATCC 21423.
