The unit has a shunting cylinder unit with lifting and shunting cylinders and a carriage. The piston rod (11) of the unit is rigidly connected to the track which supports the carriage. The unit moves along the piston rod, and is in active position with the carriage (6). A locking valve is provided to secure the shunting cylinder unit positions. The unit consists of a telescopic synchronous cylinder. A slide plate (7), movable relative to the carriage, is located between lifting cylinder (2) and carriage. It is connected to it via a projecting retainer (14) which permits lateral movement of the plate.
