FIELD: wire rolling processes and equipment. SUBSTANCE: multistand unit of rolling mill includes large number of rolling stands arranged alternatively at opposite sides of line for rolling article in direction from inlet to outlet of unit. Driving shafts are provided at opposite ends of rolling line. Driving shafts have separate coaxial portions mutually joined by means of couplings. Each rolling stand is joined with respective portion of shafts. Drive apparatus of unit is joined with transmission shafts of upstream end of unit; couplings are made with possibility of disengagement for mechanically disconnecting any (arranged downstream) portions of shafts and rolling stands joined with them from drive apparatus of unit.
