PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an information recording medium and a recording/reading method for realizing high density recording with a pitch smaller than a light wavelength. SOLUTION: In the information recording medium and the recording/reading method for recording information by using an energy beam such as a laser beam 7 and an electron beam, and a magnetic field, an energy beam and a magnetic field are made to emit or applied to the recording medium while the position of the energy beam and the magnetic field on the recording medium is moved, wherein bubbles movable in the direction of a recording track are generated without the emission of at least one type of an energy beam, such as air bubbles, liquid bubbles and magnetic foams (magnetic bubble) and the size of the bubbles becomes larger by the emission of reading energy beam and magnetic field. Bubbles are generated or expanded to be recorded, and after the emission or application of the energy beam and the magnetic field is finished, the bubbles are reduced and stored. Bubbles at a place to which the reading energy beam and magnetic field are made to emit or applied are expanded so that the existence and positions of the bubbles can be detected for reading.
