PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a covering elastic yarn and stockings having excellent ultraviolet light shielding properties and transparency. SOLUTION: In the covering elastic yarn obtained by using elastic fibers as a core yarn and winding a polyamide fiber around the core yarn, the polyamide fiber is a polyamide fiber for clothing which has≤0.5 wt.% titanium oxide content, 0.1-5 wt.% of zinc oxide having ultraviolet absorption region at 200-400 nm and 3×10<SP>-5</SP>-8×10<SP>-5</SP>mol/g amino terminal group content.
