METHOD FOR TREATING SOLUTION CONTAINING SELENIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating the solution containing selenium by which the high removal rate of selenium can be achieved (≤0.1 mg/liter residual selenium concentration) and the amount of a ferrous compound to be added to the solution for the purpose of removing selenium can be reduced. SOLUTION: This method comprises a pretreatment step (A) to add an acid such as hydrochloric acid to the solution containing selenium and add the ferrous compound in the condition that the pH of the acid-added solution is adjusted to≤5 to obtain the acidic solution containing selenium and a ferrous ion and a selenium recovering step (B) to add an alkali agent such as sodium hydroxide to the acidic solution obtained at the step (A) and adjust the pH of the alkali agent-added solution to 8-12 to produce the solid containing ferrous hydroxide and selenium. The amount of the ferrous compound to be added at the step (A) is controlled preferably so that the weight ratio of the ferrous ion/the selenium becomes≥150. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
