An adjustable automotive seat has an upright backrest (3) above an approx. horizontal seat (2). The seat is anchored (12) at the front (11) to the vehicle floor pan (10) by an essentially T-shaped articulated metal fitting (13, 29) which also pivots (25) with the rear seat anchorage floor plate (22). The safety belt anchorage point is fixed to the rear floor plate (22).
