METHOD OF ERADICATING AND BLEACHING MARINE ORNAMENT AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

A method of eradicating and bleaching a marine ornament made of natural pearl, cultivated pearl, shell, coral or the like which comprises putting the marine ornament in a light-permeable container and then eradicating and bleaching it; and an apparatus therefor. In the above method of eradicating and bleaching a marine ornament, the container is irradiated with light so that an illuminance of 25,000 lux or more is established on the outer surface of the container. Thus, a favorable photocatalytic effect can be achieved and, as a result, the occurrence of defects (whitened surface roughness or spots) caused by processing can be prevented, thereby smoothly eradicating and bleaching the marine ornament within a short time and elevating the whiteness thereof.
