PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medicine having effects suppressing neurodegeneration and promoting nerve regeneration and extension and useable for treatment of senile dementia (Alzheimer's disease) and the other dementias and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, etc.

SOLUTION: A heterocyclic compound as an inhibitor of rotamase enzyme is a compound represented by formula (I) (wherein A is a non-branched 3-5C alkylene; X and Y are each O, S, NH or N(1-6C alkyl); R is a nonaromatic heterocyclic group of a C-connected 4-6 membered ring and comprises one nitrogen hetero atom; R1to R4are each H, a halogen, a 1-6C alkyl or the like; R5and R6are each H or a 1-6C alkyl or R5and R6couple together and represent a non-branched 3-5C alkylene) or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt.
