PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to edit a file even when sufficient free capacity does not exist in a memory card by reading out data of prescribed volume from a file A, deleting data from a part of the file A and then writing the read data in a file B. SOLUTION: In the case of clipping the latter half data of an AVI file (file A) recorded in a memory card 36, a CPU 32 prepares another AVI file (file B) in the memory card 36. Then the CPU 32 reads out data of prescribed volume from the file A, and after storing the read data in an SDRAM 28, deletes data preceding the read data from the file A. When free capacity is secured in the memory card 36, the CPU 32 writes the data of the SDRAM 28 in the file B. The processing is repeatedly executed for the necessary data of the file A.
