PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently rotate and drive a disk by performing rotary drive so that the disk reaches a rotational speed along a mechanism system limit line, when a region from the innermost periphery of a record medium to a limit radius is being accessed , and the disk reaches a rotational speed along a signal processing system limit line, when a region from the limit radius to the outermost periphery is being accessed. SOLUTION: A mechanism system limit line or a signal processing limit line indicates the mechanism system of a disk drive or the limit of the signal-processing system. When the radius of the disk, where the mechanism system limit line crosses the signal processing limit line, is set to be a limiting radius X, rotation drive is made so that the disk reaches a rotational speed along the mechanism system limit line in a CAV system, when reproducing a region from the innermost periphery to the limiting radius X and so that the disk reaches a rotational speed along the signal processing system limit in a CLV system, when a region from the limit radius X to the outermost periphery is reproduced.
