<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas/liquid phase separator for an electrochemical cell system having an improved pressure-control function for improving the management of separation of a hydrogen gas from water in an existing electrolytic cell system and the control of a water level inside the phase separator during cell system operation. <P>SOLUTION: The gas/liquid phase separator 44 is equipped with a fluid inlet 78, a steam outlet 82, a liquid outlet 88 and first and second valves 92 and 94 positioned to establish a fluid exchange with the liquid outlet 88. Both the valves 92 and 94 can be controlled in response to pressure inside the system and the liquid level of the gas/liquid phase separator 44 and are positioned parallel to each other, establishing a mutual fluid exchange. A process for controlling the liquid level in the phase separator 44 comprises steps wherein the liquid level in the phase separator 44 is detected, pressure inside the system is detected, and liquid is discharged by selectively opening the valve positioned to establish a fluid exchange with the phase separator 44. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
