<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zirconia-based sintered material for gas sensors, and its manufacturing method, an electric resistance adjusting method, and a gas sensor element. <P>SOLUTION: The zirconia-based sintered material for gas sensors, mainly composed of stabilized or partially stabilized zirconia (stabilized or partially stabilized with Y<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, Sc<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>etc.), contains Zr, Al and Si. If total amount of these converted to oxide is assumed to be 100 mass %, Zr is 39.5 mass % or more, but less than 100 mass %, Al is 60 mass % or less, and Si is 0.5 mass % or less (0.01 to 0.1mass % preferred). Electric resistance is regulated based on the Si content. And, the stabilized or partially stabilized zirconia forms continuous phase and the Al oxide forms dispersed phase, so that the sintering member functions as a solid electrolyte member even with much Al oxide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
