THREE-DIMENSIONAL PHOTONIC CRYSTAL OPTICAL RESONATOR EQUIPPED WITH WAVEGUIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source in which the loss of light is reduced and which can be miniaturized.

SOLUTION: Point defect 12 is formed for three-dimensional photonic crystal constituted by laminating stripe layers where several rods 11 are arrayed in parallel. A waveguide 13 is formed by chipping a part of the rod belonging to the stripe layer to which the point defect 12 belongs and different from the rod to which the point defect 12 belongs. A positional relation between the point defect 12 and the end part of the waveguide 13 is appropriately set, so that only the resonating light of specified wavelength is taken out from the waveguide 13 at the point defect 12.
