COUPLED STRUCTURAL BODY OF OPTICAL COMPONENT, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME AND OPTICAL SWITCH MODULE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coupled structural body of optical components which is manufactured with simplified process, has improved coupling efficiency at an optically coupled part and reduced loss due to reflection at an interface of the optical components of the optically coupled part.

SOLUTION: At least a first optical waveguide 501a having a core layer with a refractive index ncj and at least a second optical waveguide 502a having a core layer with a refractive index nck are arranged with their end faces placed opposite to each other. At least an end face of either the first optical waveguide 501a or of the second optical waveguide 502a is formed through etching and further the end face formed through etching is coated with a coating medium 501b, 502b with a refractive index nij or nik equal to a refractive index ncj or nck of the core layer exposed at the end face.
