<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent forgery of a banknote, a credit card, and the like and to provide an item having a characteristic different from generally known one to serve as a true audit trail. <P>SOLUTION: In this device and method for testing and confirming true/false of the item different from a radiological image storage phosphor panel, the item is provided with storage phosphor particles on or inside a part of it. This method includes a process for checking existence of the selected storage phosphor on/inside the item by, at first, radiating electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength shorter than that emitted by a stimulative phosphor, a process for stimulating the phosphor by the electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength longer than that emitted by the phosphor, a process for detecting the stimulated emission of the phosphor, and a process for converting an optical signal into a visual and/or audio signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
