PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photonic crystal fiber which prevents abrasives and grinding chips from entering into pores on an end face and blocking the propagation of light when the end of the photonic crystal fiber is ground and to provide a method for producing the photonic crystal fiber and a method for connecting the photonic crystal fiber. SOLUTION: Before grinding the end of a photonic crystal fiber 1, the pores 3a in a porous part 3 are blocked up with a blocking material 4 having a lower refractive index than the core part and a lower hardness than the body of the photonic crystal fiber.
