<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of obtaining a display which is bright and whose contrast is high and, moreover, which has a wide viewing angle in a transflective liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: In this liquid crystal display device, a vertical alignment mode in which a liquid crystal layer 50 whose initial alignment state is in a vertical alignment is adopted and a transmissive display area T is provided by surrounding a reflective display area R in one dot and an insulator film 21 for making the layer thickness of the liquid crystal layer 50 in the reflective display area R smaller than that of the liquid crystal layer 50 in the transmissive display area T is provided at an area corresponding to the reflective display area R of the dot center section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
