<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a display color from varying depending on viewing angles and also prevent the color purity from being lowered, in a reflection type color display device provided with light control layers which reflect color light in a specific wavelength band depending on a periodical change in refractive index. <P>SOLUTION: The light control layers 51, 52, 53 are laminated in order from the external light incident side. The light control layers 51, 52, 53 are arranged so as to reflect the color light of blue, green, and red, respectively, when the incident angle of each external light is 0°. A color filter layer 82 for absorbing blue light and green light and transmitting red light is arranged between the light control layers 52, 53. Since the incident angles of the external light are large, the refection wavelength band of the light control layer 52 is shifted toward the wavelength band of blue, and even if the reflection wavelength band of the light control layer 53 is shifted toward the wavelength band of green, the blue light is reflected by the light control layer 52, and the green light and further the blue light are not reflected by the light control layer 53. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
