PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe and high reliable glass funnel which has a structure enhancing rigidity of a body section and realizes reduction of the depth dimension and weight reduction without increasing stress, and a cathode-ray tube using the glass funnel. SOLUTION: Arch face sections 12 and a dome-shaped section 13 form the body section 3 of the glass funnel for a cathode-ray tube 2. An arch-shaped ridge line section 8, both ends of which are near the corner section of an opening end section, forms the arch face section 12 nearly perpendicular to the opening end section at least on the long side of the body section 3, so that the stress occurring at the body section travels along the arch-shaped ridge line section 8 to the corner high in rigidity of the opening end section.
