PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector constituted so that the pin insertion hole of an optical component on the other side is hardly worn or damaged, irrespective of repeated attachment/detachment, and also, the connection loss hardly increases. SOLUTION: The optical connector 1 is provided with a ferrule 2 having at least one fiber arrangement hole 6 for storing an optical fiber and a couple of positioning pin insertion holes with reference to the optical component on the other side, and a couple of guide pins 10 which is inserted into the pin insertion hole, and a surface coating layer mainly constituted of gold is formed on the surface of the guide pin 10. Thus, the pin insertion hole of the optical component on the other side is hardly worn or damaged, irrespective of the repeated attachment/detachment, and the connection loss hardly increases.
