PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning system that performs a periodical positioning operation and can be continuously used for a long time. SOLUTION: A GPS terminal 10 for measuring a position based on a positioning signal from a GPS satellite comprises a GPS receiver 105 for receiving the positioning signal from the GPS satellite and calculating a position of the GPS terminal 10, and a control part 102 for determining a receiving interval until the GPS receiver 105 receives a positioning signal next based on a distance between a first position calculated from a positioning signal received by the GPS receiver 105 at a first time and a second position calculated from a positioning signal received by the GPS receiver 105 at a second time.
