PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition which exhibits an excellent detergency, is excellent in anti-redeposition capacity, and can meet the request of compacting a detergent. SOLUTION: The detergent composition is a powdery one containing, as an essential component, a polymer prepared by the addition reaction of at least one unsaturated carboxylic acid with a polyalkyleneimine chain and at least one component selected from the group consisting of a polycarboxylic acid (salt), a citrate, zeolite, and a layered silicate or a liquid one containing, as an essential component, a polymer prepared by the addition reaction of at least one unsaturated carboxylic acid with a polyalkyleneimine chain.
