PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method and a wrapping method for sodium hydrogencarbonate (sodium bicarbonate) crystal particles having low caking properties, needing no addition of an anticaking agent, and suitable for the fields of food, medicines, and bath salts. SOLUTION: The potassium concentration in sodium hydrogencarbonate crystals with an average particle size of 50-500μm is lowered to 50 mass ppm or lower, preferably to as low as possible, and the carbonate ion concentration (in terms of sodium carbonate) in the crystal particles is lowered to 1 mass% or lower. Such crystal particles can be obtained by washing sodium hydrogencarbonate crystals with water or an aqueous sodium hydrogencarbonate solution and drying or can be obtained by lowering the potassium concentration in a mother liquor to 400 mass ppm or lower in manufacturing the sodium hydrogencarbonate crystal particles by causing the particles to settle from the mother liquor. Thus obtained sodium hydrogencarbonate is sealed with a wrapping material with a moisture permeability (according to JIS Z0208) at 40°C of 5 g/m<SP>2</SP>/day or lower. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
