PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a cup core material for a ladies' garment, well fitting an upward rising portion at the underside of the breast, and simultaneously satisfying such contrary characteristics as shape retention based on rigidity and a fitting property based on elasticity, and a characteristic of shape recovery in deformation of the garment caused by external force during washing. SOLUTION: The method comprises a process of punching out a specified-thickness steel board for a spring into a nearly semicircular flat strip plate by a press, a process of grinding the punched strip plate, a process of permanently and plastically deforming the ground strip plate into a prescribed three-dimensional shape by roll molding, and a process of annealing the permanently and plastically deformed strip plate at a low temperature.
