PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frizzy hair-correcting method accompanying the reduction of hair keratin, to provide a method for maintaining or recovering the corrected state, and to provide a composition used for the methods. SOLUTION: This hair-treating method comprises processes A and B, wherein hair is shaped in one or more of the processes. The process A: sequentially applying the hair with a first agent containing a reducing agent and then with a second agent containing an oxidizing agent and having a buffering ability and a pH value of 1 to 5, washing the hair with water and then drying the hair (the first agent or the second agent contains an organic acid (A) or its salt). The process B: sequentially applying the hair with the first agent containing the reducing agent, with an intermediate treating agent having a buffering ability and a pH value of 1 to 5 and then with the second agent containing the oxidizing agent, washing the hair with water and then drying the hair (the first agent or the intermediate treating agent contains the organic acid (A) or its salt). The organic acid (A): a compound which has a 3 to 11C non-aromatic hydrophobic group or a 4 to 18C aromatic hydrophobic group totally containing, and an acid group such as a sulfo group or a sulfonate group. Thereby, an extremely high frizzy hair-correcting effect is obtained by the simple operations of such the extents as those of ordinary straight permanent operations. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
