PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new type freshness retaining agent having not only excellent effects but also good stability and high practicality and readily handleable by taking the freshness retention common to not only cut flowers but also various species of plants with cut root parts into consideration. SOLUTION: A composition kit comprises chlorinated isocyanuric acid, boron oxide, a 4-24C ketol fatty acid and a saccharide as a principal ingredient of the balance. The ketol fatty acid is prepared as a formulation in use. The composition kit has at least one action of freshness retaining actions, flowering accelerating actions and flower bud forming actions on the plants with the cut root parts. For example, 9-hydroxy-10-oxo-12(Z),15(Z)-octadecadienoic acid,13-hydroxy-12-oxo-9(Z),15(Z)-octadecadienoic acid or 13-hydroxy-10-oxo-11(E),15(Z)-octadecadienoic acid is used as the ketol fatty acid. The freshness retention, flowering acceleration, flower bud formation of the plants with the cut root parts, e.g. the cut flowers can be created, accelerated or increased by using the composition.
