PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which titanium oxide can be synthesized more safely and at a lower cost than conventional methods. SOLUTION: Titanium oxide is obtained by drying and solidifying, at a low temperature of about 90°C, the acidic solution in which a laminated titanate such as NaLaTiO<SB>4</SB>is dissolved. Furthermore, the production cost of the titanium oxide can be reduced since it is produced from a less expensive raw material and in a simpler process than produced with conventional technique.
