PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner which compensates the dot deviation of vertical scanning below a half dot with simple configuration at low cost. SOLUTION: The optical scanner has a laser light source 1, a collimating lens 2 for paralleling the divergent luminous flux from the laser light source 1, a first imaging lens for imaging parallel beams as a line image long in a horizontal scanning direction. an optical deflector 6 having a deflection reflecting surface near the line image and isogonally and deflectively scanning the light, a second imaging lens for condensing the deflected luminous flux as a light spot onto the surface to be scanned, and a parallel flat plate 5 rotationally movable around the axis parallel with the horizontal scanning direction between the first imaging lens and the optical path of the optical deflector and compensates the beam position in the vertical scanning direction.
