<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently removing a heavy metal and a method for efficiently concentrating and collecting the heavy metal and to obtain a polypeptide and an organism therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The method for efficiently removing the heavy metal is achieved by first finding the polypeptide which is selectively bonded to the heavy metal and has ability to be selectivity linked to a plasma membrane. The domain of the peptide to be selectively bonded to the heavy metal has, for example, an amino acid sequence of a CXXC (C is cysteine; X is any amino acid; the ability to be linked to the plasma membrane is achieved, for example, by having a functional (for example, having hydrophobic affinity) farnesylation domain; the farnesylation domain has typically an amino acid sequence of a CaaY (a is an aliphatic amino acid; Y is a C-terminal amino acid; the C-terminal amino acid is preferably methionine)). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
