<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for sensing any object caught in an opening/closing body, which senses, if any, an object caught in the opening/closing body, without being affected by load variation, even if the load applied to the opening/closing body varies while there is no object caught. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for sensing objects caught in an opening/closing body has a CPU 30. When predetermined requirements are met, variation in the rotational speed A of a motor 4 is stored as reference load data B. When a sunroof 2 is actuated for closing after the reference load data B has been stored, drive data C showing the rotational speed of the motor 4 is calculated. Then data D for detecting malfunctions, indicating data from which load is subtracted at the time when the predetermined requirements are met, is calculated on the basis of the drive data C and the reference load data B.
