PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical system for stereophotography, which can efficiently photographs a stereo image whose width is greater than its length and angle of field is large in the direction thereof, and to provide a stereo camera using the optical system. SOLUTION: A partition 3 divides a film image frame 2 into an upper and lower parts and forms two film faces, each having a dimension of a×b (length by width). Among two luminous fluxes of an object, which have a parallax difference between them, the right luminous flux exposes the upper half film face via a reflecting mirror 11, a convex lens 9, and a reflecting mirror 4. The left luminous flux exposes the lower film face via a reflecting mirror 12, a convex lens 10, and a reflecting mirror 5. When the partition 3 is rotated 90°together with the film image frame 2, the reflecting mirrors 4 and 5 are also rotated 90°by the partition 3.
