PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elucidate a mechanism by which pores of the skin are reduced, to provide a novel compound which has functions to reduce pores of the skin thereby to make them inconspicuous, and also to provide a skin preparation for external use exhibiting the functions. SOLUTION: The parakeratosis inhibitor and the pore reducing agent comprise a compound selected from among succinic acid, tranexamic acid, aspartic acid N,N-diacetic acid, ethylenediaminedisuccinic acid, salts thereof, and alkylene oxide derivatives. The skin preparation for external use for inhibiting parakeratosis and the skin preparation for external use for reducing pores of the skin contain the parakeratosis inhibitor or the compounds.
