A clamp with a side tube is fastened to the pipe and a valve body is screwed onto the side tube. The boring tool is screwed to the valve body so that the trepanning head (14) can pass through the opened valve to cut into the side of the pipe. The boring tool (13), holding the head, is mounted on the end of an elongated shaft (1) which passes through a tube with a screw connection (2) and a stiffening ring (3). The shaft passes through a housing (5) with two brass bearing sleeves (6). Housing endplates (4,8) are held by screws (12). A screw thread (9) and a sleeve with a handle (10) enable turning and advancement of the trepanning tool.
