POLYESTER HOLLOW EMBROIDERY THREAD AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE: A method of making hollow type polyester embroidery thread by spinning polyester resin into hollow fiber to reduce the total strength of fibers and then controlling the relaxation drawing magnification and heating temperature during the drawing process is provided. It permits the production of embroidery thread having excellent gloss, tensile strength, breaking elongation and boiling water shrinkage value from polyester at low cost. CONSTITUTION: The polyester embroidery thread is prepared by spinning polyester and then drawing a hollow fiber having a hollowness of 8 to 40% under conditions of a relaxation drawing magnification of 0.93 to 0.98 and a temperature of 190 to 230deg.C. It has a reduced strength of 2.5 to 3.3g/d, a breaking elongation of 16 to 26% and a boiling water shrinkage value of less than 2% calculated by the following formula:reduced strength=the tensile strength of hollow fiberxthe denier of hollow fiber/the denier of circular cross-sectional fiber having the same outside diameter as hollow fiber.
