REFLECTIVE POLARIZER DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make bright display possible in a transflective type liquid crystal display that is observed by external light and back light.

SOLUTION: A multilayered reflective polarizer 12 is explained. The reflective polarizer is arranged between an optical cavity 24 and an LCD module 16 so as to form an optical display. The reflective polarizer reflects some light into the optical cavity 24, where the light is randomized to appear in a proper polarized state to be transmitted finally from the display.
