PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method which improves image characteristics and long-period durability stability and environmental stability (characteristics at high temperature and high humidity and standing characteristics). SOLUTION: In the image forming method of developing an electrostatically charged image by using a developing device 7 having at least a developing roller 9 rotating while carrying a toner 8 on the surface and developing the electrostatically charged latent image formed on an electrostatically charged image holder 1 with the toner, the developing device performs the development while bringing the toner on the developing roller carrying a developer stuck on the surface into contact with the electrostatically charged image holder provided opposite it and the developing roller is larger in the absolute value of an electrostatic charging quantity at the end parts than at the center part; and the weight mean particle size of the toner is≤10μm and the content of a toner of≥12.7μm of a particle size distribution is≤20 wt.%. Here, 0.4≤absolute value of qe-qc≤14.5, where qc is the electrostatic charging quantity of the toner at the center part and qe is the electrostatic charging quantity of the toner at the developing roller end parts.
