PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat tube for a heat exchanger made by certainly engaging plates with each other over the entire surfaces and having high heat exchange efficiency in that state, and also to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The flat tube for the heat exchanger is formed by folding one plate or stacking two plates. The plate has a plurality of rows of long beads 16. The tops of the long beads are substantially flat, the top of each long bead is coupled to a plane part 15, and the long beads and the plane parts form a plurality of flow channels 17. A plurality of passage sections 18 communicating with adjacent flow channels are formed at suitable places of the long beads formed over the longitudinal direction of the plates, the passage sections are set shorter than the length of the long beads, and the longitudinal size of the passage sections is set 10mm or shorter.
