PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save the inconvenience of precise positioning of an array substrate with a pixel electrode and a counter substrate with a common electrode using an alignment mark or the like necessitated in a color liquid crystal display device adopting a multidomain VAN (vertical alignment nematic) mode and to provide the color liquid crystal display device which is constructed with only simple positioning. SOLUTION: On an array substrate 20 with a plurality of the pixel electrodes 17 in row directions and in column directions a pixel is constructed with a comb shaped electrode pattern consisting of alternately and repeatedly arranged high electric field regions and low electric field regions. Directions of edges of the comb shaped electrode pattern are aligned so as not to perpendicularly intersect both the row direction and the column direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
