PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new pyrimidine compound useful as an active component of a herbicide. SOLUTION: The pyrimidine compound or its salt is expressed by formula (I) (R<SP>1</SP>is H or a (substituted)alkyl; R<SP>2</SP>is a (substituted) alkyl, a (substituted)alkenyl, a (substituted) alkynyl, a (substituted)cycloalkyl or the like; R<SP>3</SP>is a (substituted) alkyl or the like; R<SP>4</SP>is H, an alkyl a haloalkyl, a halogen atom, OR<SP>8</SP>or SR<SP>8</SP>; R<SP>5</SP>, R<SP>6</SP>and R<SP>7</SP>are each H, a halogen atom or an alkyl; R<SP>8</SP>is a (substituted) alkyl, a (substituted) alkenyl, a (substituted) alkynyl or a (substituted) cycloalkyl; and X is CO, CS or SO<SB>2</SB>).
