A fire grid for an incinerator or heat treatment system has fixed and movable grids linked to a coolant circuit via supply pipes on which the grids are supported. The cooling for the movable grids has flexible hoses outside the heat zone. The movable grids (6) are supported on sliders (7) on the underside with air slots (8) to feed the burn and to aerate the charge. The movable grids reciprocate between end settings which ensure that no debris clogs the space between the movable and fixed grids. The grids can have a bar pattern or can be plates with slots.
