<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of easily recognizing a cover which has to be opened. <P>SOLUTION: The cover which has to be opened and a method of opening and closing the cover are displayed on a display part 17 by making an original sensor 14a, a toner sensor 65, first to fourth recording paper sensors 81 to 84 correspond to a message to be displayed on the display part 17 based on a detection signal from the sensors .
