<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packet transfer apparatus and its method for a multimedia streaming service in consideration of storage efficiency and transfer efficiency adapted a change in coding method to a packetizing process, based on a network state in transferring contents with the same image quality to a variety of terminals, when a server provides the multimedia streaming service using the Internet. <P>SOLUTION: A content creating part encodes multimedia data and compresses it. A content storage part stores a bit stream compressed by the content creating part. A packeting part packetizes the bit stream stored in the content storage part according to a predetermined coding system, and when the network state of the terminals is changed, the bit stream is packetized in the other coding system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
